Two Declarations for Farm and Food Freedom

Two international figures came out last week to make serious statements about farm and food freedom. Sir Julian Rose and the ICPPC Manifesto and Michael Schmidt with his  Edmonton Declaration. Michael sent me his and Julian sent his to Kimberly Hartke. I thought it appropriate to tie these two together–Augie

The International Coalition to Protect the Polish Countryside (ICPPC) held their Anniversary conference this past weekend. The Manifesto for 21st Century Food and Farming “Farming for the People with the People”was circulated there and was submitted to Hartke is Online! by their co-director, Sir Julian Rose.

Sir Rose, a strong advocate/activists for real farming and raw milk, gives the Manifesto which states:

Continuing to adhere to the present corporate and state controlled food and farming regimes means that:

  • Farmer’s time honoured right to save their seeds and to cultivate, distribute and trade the produce resulting from these seeds will continue to be subverted, curtailed and stolen.
  • People’s right to perpetuate the biodiversity of locally adapted native plants, herbs and animals for culinary, medicinal and general environmental health will be denied.
  • People’s rights to gain lawful access to unused or barren land for the purpose of growing food for their own consumption in ways that do not harm the environment will be blocked.
  • People’s time honoured right to carry on the daily operations of good farming practice unhindered by state and corporate power structures, will be denied.

We call for a people led and people owned  renaissance of agriculture. One which will liberate the creativity and ingenuity of man and draw inspiration from the time honoured peasant and family farming practices that still form the foundation of self sufficient, sustainable and ecological agricultural production throughout the world.

“Agriculture has been the backbone of Canada. History has taught us that a healthy Agri-culture is able to feed all the people and therefore creates a healthy and socially stable environment.

At the turn of the last century 70% of our Canadian population was actively involved in farming.

Today we have only 2% of the population left working on farms.

80% of them have to have another job to keep their farm going.

The average age of today’s farmers is 56 and hardly any young farmer can afford to start farming.

Corporate farming has taken over food production and multi national corporations control most of the farming inputs, food processing and distribution.

Food safety regulations and production standards are passed based on intensive lobby powers by those who control the current food chain.

Warning Issued for Infant Formula: Fluoridated City Water Damages Teeth . . . Possibly Brains, Thyroid

In this continuing series on fluoride poisoning, we have a startling announcement from the Fluoride Action Network. I had written earlier that the 2006 ADA warning of the dangers of reconstituting infant formula with fluoridated city water. This statement can and should be a major key to unlock their sacred secret about fluoride toxicity for the still-thinking general public. The fact that ADA has not conducted a public awareness campaign about this in four years should raise serious questions concerning their motives and professional ethics. Rather, they continue to push for extremely high levels of fluoride applications in the form of dental treatments and pills in the schools and in mouthwashes for everyone. Might the fluoride doses react with the aluminum in vaccinations, water and aluminum pans increase the synergistic toxicity? Get the F Out!–Augie

Parents Should be Warned: Fluoridated Water is Not Recommended for Infants

New study confirms bottle-fed babies are overexposed to fluoride

NEW YORK, Oct 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — A new study confirms infants fed formula reconstituted with fluoridated water are at greater risk of developing discolored teeth (dental fluorosis). (1)  The American Dental Association (ADA) warned dentists about this in 2006 but has done little or nothing to inform the nearly 200 million Americans who live in communities with fluoridated drinking water.

The study by Levy et al., a Journal of the American Dental Association cover story (October 2010), confirms Levy’s earlier studies, which show “[F]luoride intakes during each of the first 4 years were individually significantly related to fluorosis on maxillary central incisors, with the first year most important,” and that “[I]nfant formulas reconstituted with higher fluoride water can provide 100 to 200 times more fluoride than breastmilk, or cow’s milk.” (2, 3)

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 32% of American children have dental fluorosis, an increase of 23% from the 1980s. (4)  Black and Hispanic populations have even higher rates. Dental fluorosis is a visible sign that a child was overexposed to fluoride.  Pictures of fluorosis: http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/teeth/fluorosis/moderate-severe.html

“The message from Dr. Levy’s work is loud and clear: Don’t give babies fluoridated water,” says  Paul Connett, PhD, Executive Director, Fluoride Action Network (FAN).  “Unfortunately the ADA has known about these risks for more than four years. Researchers are telling dentists; but dentists are not telling parents.”

This and other little-known adverse fluoride health effects led Connett to co-author, “The Case Against Fluoride: How Hazardous Waste Ended Up in Our Drinking Water and the Bad Science and Powerful Politics that Keep it There,” with James Beck, MD, PhD, professor emeritus of medical physics, University of Alberta  and Spedding Micklem, DPhil, professor emeritus at Edinburgh University.

A recent review in The Lancet describes fluoride as “an emerging neurotoxic substance” that may damage the developing brain. The National Research Council (NRC) has identified fluoride as an “endocrine disrupter” that may impair thyroid function. A recent Harvard University study links fluoride to bone cancer.

“Approximately half of the newborns and infants I see in practice are fed formula reconstituted with fluoridated water, which I find alarming since the blood-brain barrier is not even developed until 6 months of age, placing these young infants at risk for neurotoxic effects that can be severe and permanent,” says Dr. Yolanda Whyte, a pediatrician in Georgia. “Parents should be warned not to give fluoridated water to babies and children, and they should know that fluoride is also present in juice and other water-reconstituted beverages.  I diagnose dental fluorosis on average 5 times daily, but fluoride doesn’t only affect teeth, it can potentially affect the brain and nervous system, kidneys, bones, and other tissues in young children during their critical stages of organ development.  A public awareness campaign is urgently needed.”

FAN will launch a campaign in November to urge water companies and public-health officials to inform parents that fluoridated water should not be mixed into infant formula.  “If the ADA and CDC won’t educate parents, then FAN will,” said Connett.

FAN  is the leading science and advocacy group focused on health issues surrounding fluoride in water, food, air, pesticides, and industrial exposures. Dr. Connett was an invited presenter at the initial meeting of the NRC panel and FAN researchers submitted extensive scientific information throughout the panel’s proceedings.   Visit: www.fluoridealert.org

UPDATE on Another FDA Cheese Bust on Family Food Ministry: Award-winning Artisan Raw Cheese Producer

UPDATE 10/25/2010

As reported here (below) Saturday, FDA busted another artisan-cheese family food ministry in Washington. The children have calmed down now four days after their direct dealings with the FDA agents when they locked up all the award-winning cheese at Estrella Family Creamery–while the Anthony and Kelly Estrella, the parents, were known by the intruders to be away at the farmers market. All because a few isolated samples of cheese never offered to the public did not pass non-detect (zero) of a microorganism that is found all over your skin. A “standard” that will shut down any cheesemaker nationwide. Continue reading

International Nutrition Conference to Explore The Politics of Food

Before tonight’s announcement, I am asking my readers and subscribers to use my new form to tell me something about yourself. This new short form will also give you an opportunity to subscribe if you have not already done so.  I will prompt you again at the end.–Augie

Are you going to the Conference? If so, I would like to meet you there.

International Nutrition Conference to Explore The Politics of Food

October 12, 2010-WASHINGTON, D.C.— The intense debate generated by proposed food safety legislation, ongoing government opposition to raw milk, and raids by agents with guns drawn on private food clubs in California and Ohio, has vaulted the subject of food politics into the eye of consumers and policy makers.  Should small farms be regulated? Are the USDA dietary guidelines improving health or causing disease? Do citizens have a right to the foods of their choice?

Food activists, raw milk advocates, nutritionists, farmers and consumers will explore these issues at Wise Traditions 2010, the 11th annual international conference of the Weston A. Price Foundation, November 12-15 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. With over 136 licensed raw dairy farms and forty applications pending, Pennsylvania leads the nation in preserving traditional dairy farming methods and providing access to raw milk for consumers.

The Weston A. Price Foundation, a nonprofit nutrition education foundation, will host more than twelve hundred participants for the four-day event of presentations, seminars, food preparation demonstrations and farm tours, in addition to showcasing delicious traditional foods.  Attendees will include health and nutrition professionals, farmers, activists and wellness-oriented citizens from around the world. The event is open to the public and Continuing Education Credits are available for some health professionals.

Several experts will address the subject of raw milk, including Tim Wightman, dairy and soil expert, Ted Beals, MD, physician and dairy safety consultant, and Mark McAfee, owner of the largest raw dairy in California.

At the general session on Saturday, November 13, Geoffrey Smith will discuss the politics of genetically modified organisms, Judith McGeary will explore the pitfalls in proposed food safety legislation, and Sally Fallon Morell will present insights into the negative effects of the USDA dietary guidelines on foods served at school lunch programs and in institutions like prisons and hospitals.

Other topics on the menu include dental health, heart disease, soil and livestock fertility, cancer alternatives and native diets. The exhibit hall, featuring over one hundred vendors of whole foods, supplements, body care products and crafts, will be open on Saturday and Sunday

The conference will feature several full day seminars on Friday, November 12: Traditional Diets by Sally Fallon Morell; Holistic Cancer Therapy with Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, MD;  Gut and Psychology Syndrome by autism specialist, Natasha Campbell McBride; Soil Health and Fertility with Will Winter, DVM, and Jerry Brunetti, soil health expert; and Milk Quality, Testing, and Continuing Education for Dairy Farmers with Mark McAfee, Dr. Ted Beals, and Tim Wightman, author of the Raw Milk Production Handbook.

Other partial day tracks will cover the topics of cooking, wellness, hormones, environmental hazards,  fitness and weight loss.

The conference will feature delicious traditional meals, with much of the food donated by sustainable small farmers from around the country.

Descrambling the Eggs and It Won’t Be Over Easy!

Humpty Dumpty Has Taken a Great Fall!

I have wanted to comment on the egg situation the day after the half-billion recall. First, I wanted to say that these types of contaminated eggs are commonplace– the reason, in part, 1 in 4 Americans get a case of food-borne illness each year. It is similar to the leafy green problem–where the spinach and such are grown in concentrated human, industrial and hospital wastes–called biosolids out in the California Salad Bowl. It was frustrating holding back the article– I wanted to have the cute picture of Humpty Dumpty– and the title I had in mind for weeks. But it all came together a few minutes ago!

Two weeks ago Mark Kastel, director of the prestigious Cornucopia Institute, sent me photos of the USDA-certified organic egg operations– from factory farms or concentation camps– accounting for a good 80% of organic eggs sold at supermarkets. He encouraged me to publish something. Yesterday he posted a brilliant 4-minute video that says it all. Now, I need not write the article.– Augie

As he says and is plain to see, the egg cartel has taken over nearly all of the production, using their mass scale operations to drive the price down which forces more real egg producers out of the business. (It is the same economic disparity and health benefit comparison with grocery store milk and farm fresh, unprocessed, whole milk– or raw milk direct from the farm).

I know you will NOT buy organic eggs from the store– buy only eggs from farmers that have pastured hens fed natural feed. But your friends and coworkers, church folk and neighbors need to understand how this fraud and deception works–and how  it affects your health and the health of the chickens and eggs– the so-called organic takeover by the USDA and its corporate partners.  They should be fried hard and to a crisp. SHARE this story with them now using this link       http://wp.me/phmll-1di    in Facebook, twitter, lists and other social networks!

Vaccinations are the Answer to Global Population: Bill Gates

Gate’s Law: CO2= P x S x E x C

Vaccinations are the answer for depopulation according to Bill Gates.

There is no doubt the leaders of the nations of the earth, through the United Nations and many other global bodies have programs for human depopulation control; such as the UN Population Division and Fund. The emphasis is access to health care, reproductive health and vaccinations for all world citizens. These are the same agencies that brought the WHO H1N1 flu pandemic response plan. Food and supplements/herb controls and safety are handled by other divisions. I can only hope there are two diametrically opposed forces within the agencies.

All of this is said to be necessary to reduce C02– exhaled gases. I do not want to address global warming (a professional specialty of mine) here– but this plant food that creates oxygen is not only necessary– the environment and human health benefit from it. In brief, weather cycles are cause by the Sun— ITSS– it’s the Sun stupid. Climate change scaremongering from folks like Al Gore is to promote energy controls and taxes to fund the ideas Gates refers to. It is greenwashing.

The man is dangerous.

An eleven-year-old boy has infinitely more wisdom on health, food and farming than this man. The boy’s video was posted earlier today.

Get the F Out!– Fluoride: Poisoning the Children? –PART 2

In Part 1, Dr. Sylvia Onusic provided information on the school fluoride mouth rinse programs along with much data and references on oral hygiene products and other sources of fluoride poisoning. Part 2 covers a dangerous tooth sealant program for schoolchildren as well as some other details that should be brought forth.

Once again we are most pleased to have David Michael as a guest writer on the topic of fluoride overdose. David Michael has spent four decades in the environmental profession in Michael’s experience with hazardous compounds in water, waste and air include monitoring and control and treatment. He has worked for EPA as a regulator and has worked for major oil and tire companies, and many organizations such as Toyota, USPS, USAF as a consultant, publisher and educator. David is a chemical engineer with an environmental specialty and is an advocate for natural food and health freedom.–Augie

FLUORIDE ALERT: Slowly Poisoning the Children? –PART 2

by David Michael

Fluorine and many of it fluoride compounds are some of the most toxic and reactive substances known to man. It is legally an extremely hazardous material and as a waste is considered a toxic waste by EPA. It is a poison. But lo and behold, when placed in the mouth of babies and children, all of a sudden the poison is in the top 10 list medical miracles of the 20th century, the mantra of public health authorities.

Fifteen European countries have banned water fluoridation due to known health effects. Can you find one study that shows water fluoridation is effective against cavities?

State and local departments of health are asking kids to rinse each week with these toxic compounds yet can (and have) shut down a KoolAid or lemonade stand at a farmers market for lack of a $200 license for the summer (to protect public health). Continue reading

Recipes for Disease: Will the USDA Food Pyramid Collapse?

Three testimonies below chip away at the proposed USDA food pyramid dietary changes. I doubt if this will cause the pyramid to collapse since by definition the USDA protects the giant food and agriculture industry– the industrialized farms and the factory food. As Kimberly Hartke stated in her piece, “the USDA Food Pyramid is a government sponsored marketing campaign, designed to promote the foods of huge corporate producers, which has next to nothing to do with true health and nutrition. It is a highly politicized process, and we saw obesity skyrocket after 1992, when the pyramid advised six to eleven daily servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta. It also tipped our scales toward diabetes, degenerative diseases, and despair.”

Would you trust your health to those who advise six to eleven daily servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta? Would you trust those licensed dietitians who unknowingly parrot the same to carry out the marketing scheme?  As you probably see, it is not really about health after all.

ORAL TESTIMONY TO THE USDA DIETARY GUIDELINES COMMITTEE

USDA DIETARY GUIDELINES COMMITTEE

By Sally Fallon Morell, President

The Weston A. Price Foundation

July 8, 2010

The proposed 2010 Dietary Guidelines perpetuate the mistakes of previous guidelines in demonizing saturated fats and animal foods rich in saturated fatty acids such as egg yolks, butter, whole milk, cheese, fatty meats like bacon and animal fats for cooking. The current obesity epidemic emerged as vegetable oils and refined carbohydrates replaced these healthy, nutrient-dense traditional fats. Animal fats supply many essential nutrients that are difficult to obtain from other sources. Furthermore, basic biochemistry shows that the human body has a very high requirement for saturated fats and cholesterol in all cell membranes; if we do not eat saturated fats, the body will simply make them from carbohydrates, but excess carbohydrate increases blood levels of triglyceride and small, dense LDL and compromises blood vessel function. High-carbohydrate diets, moreover, fail to satisfy the appetite as well as diets rich in traditional fats, leading to higher caloric intakes and often to bingeing and splurging on empty foods, resulting in rapid weight gain.

The proposed guidelines will perpetuate existing nutrient deficiencies present in all American population groups, including deficiencies in vitamins A, and D, found in animal fats, vitamins B12 and B6 found in meat and seafood, as well as minerals like iron and zinc. Low intakes of vitamin K2, moreover, are associated with increases in the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease and cancer, and the main sources of vitamin K2 available to Americans are egg yolks and full-fat cheeses.
