FDA, IRS, FBI: 80 Armed Agents Raid Health Supplement Firm in Oregon

Unlike the FDA Raid, this picture is not exxagerated.

A band of 80 federal agents stormed Maxam Nutraceutics of Hood River, Oregon last week in what seems to be  an unnecessary and outrageous abuse of power.

Jim Cole, Founder and CEO of Maxam said he cooperated with every demand that the FDA made of him, and was convinced that all was well. But apparently the FDA had different ideas when out of nowhere, the agency, along with the IRS and the FBI, sent as many as 80 armed, SWAT-style agents to both Maxam headquarters, the company’s “Big Gym” training center, and even Jim’s daughter’s house, to confiscate all the products, company documents, and even personal files and computers.

“They took all our products, all our paperwork, all our files — we’ve been doing this since 1992 and they pulled everything,” said Jim. “They brought in three big moving vans, they had their guns on, their bullet-proof vests — they came prepared for war.”

You can see that the FDA letter treats Maxam health supplement products as drugs. The point I want to make is that Fluoride is a Drug by FDA definition. It is delivered to customers through their water supply without dosing instructions or without any medical evaluation or periodic monitoring whatsoever–to the extent CDC has reported 41% of children are overdosed and have dental fluorosis. The practice of water fluoridation is NOT FDA-approved and is unethical in that consumers are not informed and warned as to the side effects. Why does FDA allow fluoridation of water supplies, but when folks like Jim Cole, providing helpful products to people asking for health supplements, get busted with such brute force? –Augie

International Nutrition Conference to Explore The Politics of Food

Before tonight’s announcement, I am asking my readers and subscribers to use my new form to tell me something about yourself. This new short form will also give you an opportunity to subscribe if you have not already done so.  I will prompt you again at the end.–Augie

Are you going to the Conference? If so, I would like to meet you there.

International Nutrition Conference to Explore The Politics of Food

October 12, 2010-WASHINGTON, D.C.— The intense debate generated by proposed food safety legislation, ongoing government opposition to raw milk, and raids by agents with guns drawn on private food clubs in California and Ohio, has vaulted the subject of food politics into the eye of consumers and policy makers.  Should small farms be regulated? Are the USDA dietary guidelines improving health or causing disease? Do citizens have a right to the foods of their choice?

Food activists, raw milk advocates, nutritionists, farmers and consumers will explore these issues at Wise Traditions 2010, the 11th annual international conference of the Weston A. Price Foundation, November 12-15 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. With over 136 licensed raw dairy farms and forty applications pending, Pennsylvania leads the nation in preserving traditional dairy farming methods and providing access to raw milk for consumers.

The Weston A. Price Foundation, a nonprofit nutrition education foundation, will host more than twelve hundred participants for the four-day event of presentations, seminars, food preparation demonstrations and farm tours, in addition to showcasing delicious traditional foods.  Attendees will include health and nutrition professionals, farmers, activists and wellness-oriented citizens from around the world. The event is open to the public and Continuing Education Credits are available for some health professionals.

Several experts will address the subject of raw milk, including Tim Wightman, dairy and soil expert, Ted Beals, MD, physician and dairy safety consultant, and Mark McAfee, owner of the largest raw dairy in California.

At the general session on Saturday, November 13, Geoffrey Smith will discuss the politics of genetically modified organisms, Judith McGeary will explore the pitfalls in proposed food safety legislation, and Sally Fallon Morell will present insights into the negative effects of the USDA dietary guidelines on foods served at school lunch programs and in institutions like prisons and hospitals.

Other topics on the menu include dental health, heart disease, soil and livestock fertility, cancer alternatives and native diets. The exhibit hall, featuring over one hundred vendors of whole foods, supplements, body care products and crafts, will be open on Saturday and Sunday

The conference will feature several full day seminars on Friday, November 12: Traditional Diets by Sally Fallon Morell; Holistic Cancer Therapy with Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, MD;  Gut and Psychology Syndrome by autism specialist, Natasha Campbell McBride; Soil Health and Fertility with Will Winter, DVM, and Jerry Brunetti, soil health expert; and Milk Quality, Testing, and Continuing Education for Dairy Farmers with Mark McAfee, Dr. Ted Beals, and Tim Wightman, author of the Raw Milk Production Handbook.

Other partial day tracks will cover the topics of cooking, wellness, hormones, environmental hazards,  fitness and weight loss.

The conference will feature delicious traditional meals, with much of the food donated by sustainable small farmers from around the country.

Menu of the Year Awarded: The Weston A. Price Foundation International Conference

For the second year in a row, the Journal of Natural Food and Healing has awarded the Menu of the Year to the chefs, menu planners and donors of the naturally produced farm food for The Weston A. Price Foundation’s International conference to be held November 11-14, near Philadelphia. (Okay, we did not look at any other menus– but how could you beat this one?)

If things go right, an attempt to beat this one, at least in many categories, may be sponsored by the Journal and Living Food– our new bulletin.  This would be prepared by three-time winner Gold Medal award winner of the International Olympics in Culinary Arts- Chef Fetty– at an undisclosed world-class resort in the heart of the world’s largest Amish country. (Okay it may be dinner of just 4– even though the dining area can seat 150 ) He is already using local naturally grown foods and wants to upgrade more.)

Of course, many of our readers will be there, as well as ARMi Facebook folks, including myself. I am going to hear Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride on autism recovery and a full-day session on Homeopathy on Monday. Here are some examples of some of the menus that match the caliber of speakers for the 3-day event, including icon Joel Salatin speaking at “Everything I Want to Eat is Illegal” banquet dinner.

I am wondering how many readers are going, have gone before, or who may want to plan to come next year. You should leave a comment to that affect or any other comment. You may review the Agenda here or by clicking the  Banner to the left.

The Hope for Autism (and ADD, ADHD and ONDs)– Part 1

As mentioned in an earlier post, I will be researching autism prevention and recovery in the coming months and will be chronicling findings here at the Journal, probably a 12-part series.

I recently received a note from Mary Hernandez of New York City on her interest in our new local Living Food bulletin. She had also given me permission to reprint her speech on the day National Autism Awareness Week was announced in New York and an article (Part 2) published this Spring in Hope Magazine.

I have titled this post The Hope for Autism (and ONDs– other neurological disorders). Hope is commonly used as a wish that something may happen. Yet the biblical term refers to the Hope as an absolute certainty that a future event will occur. The reality is that recovery (and prevention) from much of the autism and ONDs is completely or partially possible now, so that we as parents need not just wish for some improvement, pray it away or wait for The Hope.

I am most pleased to take this moment to introduce Mary to my readers, many of whom are advocates for autism and vaccination education worldwide, and her Hope Magazine— Augie

On Autism and Hope: “Nine Days Into the Special Diet, I Heard A Voice Behind Me Say…”

Below is the speech given by NAA New York Metro Chapter member Mary Hernandez at the NY City event formally designating April 2010 as Autism Awareness Month.  It’s a powerful reminder of how often the doctors write off our children, and how the children themselves prove them oh so wrong. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we who were there enjoyed listening.

Reversal of Autism and Neurological Disorders (New Video)

I am encouraging my readers to view this new short video on the potential for recovery from autism. I will be writing more on autism recovery research, nutritional intervention and other treatments and therapies in the coming weeks.–Augie

The producer writes: “Autism Yesterday is a documentary film that explores an emerging truth many parents are discovering: Autism is a reversible condition through a process known as “biomedical intervention”. Through the eyes of five families and their recovering children, Autism Yesterday chronicles heart-wrenching stories of despair, hope, and recovery. This 30-minute documentary shares the remarkable story of children recovering from autism — perhaps the most important health issue of our time.”

Russian autistic boy from epidemic after more vaccinations were introduced, as in China.

Raine Saunders, a Journal correspondent from Boise, brought this video to my attention yesterday—as well as Part 1 of Preventing Autism and Other Disorders. This article addresses pre-conception, pre-natal and post-natal tips to make a healthy baby. These tips are also good for anyone—oh, except for the breastfeeding. Her very complete article will be posted Friday, so be sure to subscribe to keep up on the autism reversal and recovery mission.

FDA Has Gone Nuts: Walnuts and Other Foods Are Drugs

Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food. Hippocrates.

Since food is medicine, and medicine is food, the Food and Drug Administration, an agency of Health and Human Services, is requiring that claims of food health benefits by sellers, must have federal licensing and scientific proof of such claims. This is to harmonize with Codex Alimentarius, global food and drug control standards.

Dr. Gary Null writes that it is a criminal act to mention that walnuts have health benefits without FDA licensing and approval. This is being extended to all foods.

Some of these actions are reasonable for the abuse of package claims based on fraudulent trick science by Big Food, but they will also be going after good people with good, healthy products that teach nutritional science on their product literature. I am hopeful and there are good people in FDA and other agencies that are fighting against this. Are you?– Augie

More and more letters like this one sent to Diamond Foods are being sent via certified mail and followed up by FDA agents and attorneys in their regional and district offices: Continue reading

Powerful Prevention of Flus, Colds and Emerging Plagues

This week I posted a summary of a study that shows Vitamin D3 is more effective than flu vaccines and 7 times more effective than oral antivirals. We had record traffic on it and it is still drawing strong. Cod liver oil (fermented is best) provided D3 and A as well along with the fish oils does the trick.  But this home-made elixir also can be administered. Both cod liver oil (or D3 capsules or drops) and the Master Tonic will produce a natural immunity for colds, flus and other bugs, including superbugs– and almost any ailment. FDA would like this proven from case studies before making statements like this. Try this and you will have your real case study for your family and friends who try it.

Today, Pat Robinson and her Heal Thyself community offers this recipe for the secret tonic. I have not tried to make it yet, but knowing Pat Robinson is a trained natural healing specialist of the highest caliber, I can trust that this is a winner. Knock back a shot of this and chase it with the oil if you like.  Now here is Pat’s preparation with some of the nutritional science involved and the specific, health benefits. —Augie

Master Tonic sounds like it cures everything and is easy to make to have
on hand. Start the ferment on September 1st.  BUY YOUR INGREDIENTS
