Fast food, industrially processed food, and the terrible dietary advice dispensed by the health care industry are a primary cause of many disorders. Add too much sugar, some soft drinks, eating on the run with a quick breakfast of donuts and coffee, and you are well on your way to digestive-related disorders, including acid-reflux disease—also known as Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease or GERD.

About 60 million Americans already have acid-reflux (one out of five people) and many people have acid-reflux without knowing it. In addition to the typical symptom of acid-regurgitation, there are many other lesser-known symptoms including hoarseness, belching, chronic throat clearing and sore throat, persistent coughing, difficulty swallowing, nausea, asthma, wheezing and persistent hiccups in adults. In infants and children, frequent ear infections, excessive crying, nausea with or without vomiting, excessive coughing, respiratory problems, refusing food, excessive belching and burping.
