I wanted to let you know, about three years ago when this Autism Speaks org was formed, the minute its formation was announced amongst great television fanfare, with the presence and praise of national politicians, I told Annie this group will feed off desperate parents of autistics and offer nothing but empty promises of hope– like a number of these walk-athon outfits. Perhaps, I was right. What say y’all?

The Autism Research Institute (austim.com) is the best place for parents to find hope. Geared toward solutions, these folks don’t disappoint.
It was founded by Dr. Rimland (deceased) in the late 60’s. He also started Autism Society of America, but left when it became a “business”. (He thought they were getting comfy with living with autism rather than searching for solutions.) Both outfits have their place, both are useful, but the Institute is focused on results & parents are respected rather than patronised.
