FDA Has Gone Nuts: Walnuts and Other Foods Are Drugs

Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food. Hippocrates.

Since food is medicine, and medicine is food, the Food and Drug Administration, an agency of Health and Human Services, is requiring that claims of food health benefits by sellers, must have federal licensing and scientific proof of such claims. This is to harmonize with Codex Alimentarius, global food and drug control standards.

Dr. Gary Null writes that it is a criminal act to mention that walnuts have health benefits without FDA licensing and approval. This is being extended to all foods.

Some of these actions are reasonable for the abuse of package claims based on fraudulent trick science by Big Food, but they will also be going after good people with good, healthy products that teach nutritional science on their product literature. I am hopeful and there are good people in FDA and other agencies that are fighting against this. Are you?– Augie

More and more letters like this one sent to Diamond Foods are being sent via certified mail and followed up by FDA agents and attorneys in their regional and district offices:

“Based on our review, we have concluded that your walnut products are in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) and the applicable regulations in Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR). …Based on claims made on your firm’s website, we have determined that your walnut products are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs because these products are intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease. …Because of these intended uses, your walnut products are drugs within the meaning of section 201 (g)(1)(B) of the Act [21 U.S.C. 321(g)(B)]. Your walnut products are also new drugs under section 201(p) of the Act [21 U.S.C. 321(p)] because they are not generally recognized as safe and effective for the above referenced conditions. Therefore, under section 505(a) of the Act [21 U.S.C. 355(a)], they may not be legally marketed with the above claims in the United States without an approved new drug application.”

Gary Null: In other words, telling the truth about walnuts turns you into a criminal according to the FDA. And if you tell the scientifically-validated truth about how walnuts can help reduce high cholesterol, that act magically transforms your walnuts into unapproved drugs.

And much the same is true when you’re talking about green tea or pomegranates or superfoods. If you dare discuss the health benefits of any food or natural substance while you are selling such items, you will be branded a criminal by the FDA, threatened with criminal prosecution and potentially have your company raided by the FDA along with armed law enforcement agents with guns drawn.

Only junk foods are good for you
At the same time the FDA is attacking health foods, it openly allows ridiculous health claims on processed dead junk foods. Frito-Lay potato chips, for example, are allowed to carry claims that they are “heart healthy.”

I wonder if the FDA scientists realize just how foolish they look trying to claim that foods are drugs! From where I sit, they look very foolish indeed. Some of these things have been well known for many years and have much scientific proof and back-up. If it wasn’t so stupid it would be funny.

    • I am glad a quilter from Illinois, my original home state, has chimed in Catherine. If it were not for the tragedy of it all, it would be hilarious, as well as the other “health and food missions” going on.

  2. What kind of a crazy world are we living in? This sounds like some freaky “parallel universe” scenario like you would see in a movie or on television. I wrote an article about Codex and The European Food Saftey Authority, and I’ve read a lot of literature on these insane organizations….but I still can’t believe this is really happening. I am scared for the future, Augie!!!

  4. Back on July 4, 2005, the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Rome, Italy, determined that food and food supplements were from that point forward considered DRUGS.

Dr. Carolyn Dean and Diane Miller, JD were in attendance at this meeting. This just goes to show you how slow and methodical the machine is at causing the US to conform to international law.

Addressing it at the Congressional level will not change a thing. It is just a matter of time before this thing plays out fully and we do see scenarios as depicted in Kevin Miller’s excellent film, “Let Truth Be the Bias” where SWAT team members cornered Mel Gibson in his kitchen committing the crime of taking vitamin C.

Having a healthy, thinking public cannot be tolerated by TPTB, The Powers That Be.

  5. I would like to know how to repost this on my Facebook page. I know there are several friends of mine who would be most interested in learning about this craziness.
    Thanks!

  6. Here is Kevin Miller’s latest film about Canada. This is the blueprint for America, too. At the 16:23min mark is the clip from “Let Truth Be the Bias” I referenced above. http://vimeo.com/13024940

  7. It’s this kind of craziness that drives all the good stuff underground. It’s not that no one will have access to information. It’s that only a select few will have this information. In states where raw milk is illegal, only a few people with certain political and religious ideologies have access to raw milk because of the intense need for secrecy. The FDA is ridiculously mistaken if they think they can destroy the market for good foods and natural medicines and get everyone to consume the government-sanctioned garbage.

  8. At least the health ministries that aren’t selling any food products aren’t a target…YET. We need to fight this or they’ll be attacked next. God bless.

thanks Augie, for another great EyE Opener… your article is an indication that we have to trust ourselves, not the government if we want to stay out of their medical system. Potato chips, Heart Healthy, transfats?? !!! Whose heart? The manufacturers? Who are they kidding. It is like fluoride, they think we will swallow it if the FDA says it is okay.

One thing about nuts, walnuts included, that people may like to know… when the nuts are shelled and put into the cellophane packages, there is no way of knowing how long they have been on the shelves. The shells are nature’s protection to keep the important nutritional elements intact. Walnuts contain omega 3 fatty acids, but when the husk is removed, these delicate oils begin to disappear. So it is best to buy the nuts with the shells on them, if you can find them if you are really going to get the omega 3’s.

My grocery store said that they dont sell them in the shell unless there is a holiday season so when i find them I stock up. Nuts can be frozen too. Brazil nuts are powerhouses, like walnuts, and contain a good kind of selenium, which we need to eat everyday, especially if we live in the northern “goiter belt” states.
there is a great recipe in “Nourishing Traditions,” Crispy Nuts, which is a great way to preserve the nutritional qualities of nuts once you shell them.

  10. Is this guy trolling?

  11. Augie – I hope this is not too late foe you to get. Have you gone to Fox News or Fox Business News? How about Glenn Beck? This needs to be EXPOSED, as it shows another piece of the puzzle, and shows it clearly. Good luck and thank you.

  12. Honestly, the FDA should be banished to another planet along with the CDC, the UN, the WHO and the Federal Reserve Bank!

  13. I forgot to add Merck, Monsanto and McDonalds!

  14. yes, it is a strange thing indeed that our governmental agencies have been reduced to such absurd positions. all pharmacology is based on nature and all food containing natural ingredients could be considered drugs.

  16. Question. WHY is a ‘global’ body telling the USA/FDA what to do? Answer: Because it’s a ploy by the NWO to get rid of our independence and our rights to our own choices. Connect the dots, the FDA/USDA trying to get rid of natural foods, raw milk, etc and our rights to HAVE these foods, the pharmaceutical companies trying to poison us with toxic drugs and vaccines that don’t work, the police and govt labeling peaceful protesters as ‘low level terrorists’, the mainstream news not reporting on what is going on PERIOD, the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation using vaccines and circumcision to promote genocide in third world countries, our rights and basic liberties are taken away from us more and more, having health ‘care’ being forced upon us by the ‘president’ (and the IRS?!?), and just look at the health of most people in the country, many are overweight and have at least one major health problem. Then research a few things such as the Georgia Guidestones, Bilderberg Group, Council of Foreign Relations, and the Rockefellers. This all adds up to the New World Order plan for our society and the world, total control and domination of you and me and everyone. Check out Daniel Estulin’s book The True Story of the Bilderberg Group for a glimpse of what they are trying to do, and doing. This whole ‘regulation’ thing the FDA and CODEX has concocted smacks of their plans for an oppressive one world government and the end of our soverignty as a country.
